Upcoming Cluster Events

In anticipation of the pope’s arrival in the United States, our Cluster is hosting a presentation on Pope Francis’ exhortation THE JOY OF THE GOSPEL on Sunday, September 20 at 5:00 PM at St. Matthias Church.

Kevin Ahern, PhD is the guest speaker.  Having earned his doctorate in theological ethics from Boston College, he is an assistant professor of religious studies at Manhattan College.   Dr. Ahern is the author of the award winning book Visions of Hope: Emerging Theologians and the Future of the Church (Orbis Books 2013).   His most recent book, Structures of Grace: Catholic Organizations Serving the Global Common Good (Orbis 2015) examines the role of church organizations in the struggle for social justice.   He served as president of the International Movement of Catholic Students (IMCS – Pax Romana), and is active on the board of several organizations, including the Catholic Common Ground Initiative, America Media (America Magazine), and ICMICA – Pax Romana.   He has taught courses on Catholic social teaching at Boston College School of Theology and Ministry and at the Saint John XXIII National Seminary. All are invited to what promises to be a stimulating and thought provoking afternoon.  Pizza will be served immediately following the presentation.
